DR is one of my closest friends and he volunteered to be the first rat in my deletion experiment. We met the weekend before Memorial Day 2009 through Eric Eisenbrey and we instantly became inseparable.
Some of you might be thinking, "What is this kid's name?"Is it doctor? Dominican Republic? What does it stand for? Why is his name two initials? I can't speak for his zany parents but his name is just like it seems: D, R. He also has a brother named (wait for it): L, V. And no, the initials don't stand for anything.
The first night Eric, DR and I hung out was a blast. I had recently gone through some tough times socially and these boys fell out of the sky like angels. We all met up at the burger place inside the Le Meridien hotel where we proceeded to gorge ourselves with rare meat and sam adams beer. The menu alone predicted a great friendship.
After a long-ass winter, this day in late May was the first warm evening we had so we decided to stroll through Central Park and enjoy the night. Armed with a bottle of vodka, several small OJs and a one hitter, we set out to sit on a large boulder overlooking the Time Warner Center.
Remember when your mother told you not to go into Central Park after dark? Turns out, she's right. We got jumped by 4 or 5 homeless teenagers who stunk of BO and trash. Both Eric and DR tried to talk their way out of the situation but i was having none of it and was ready to run. The vagrants didn't get much except for a half drunk bottle of vodka and a little of our pride.
It was a scary way to start a friendship but oh what a night!
DR, i love you and can't wait to see what kind of adventures life will bring us in the future.
